Accessibility
Our conformance statement, what we test, and how to tell us it is not enough.
Our commitment
We want this site to work for everybody who needs cover. That includes people using a screen reader, people using a keyboard on its own without a mouse, people who magnify the page or zoom the text, people who need strong color contrast, and people whose systems ask for reduced motion. Buying health cover is not optional, so the way you buy it should not depend on how you browse.
Conformance status
This site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. The Americans with Disabilities Act does not publish a technical standard of its own, and WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the benchmark used in practice. We believe this site conforms fully at Level AA, with the exception of the third-party sites described under Known limitations, which we do not control. We do not claim Level AAA.
How this site is tested
Every page on this site is checked against the WCAG 2.2 Level AA standard, not just a sample of pages. Each page is checked on a computer and on a phone, with reduced motion turned on, and with the pop-up and the menu open, because problems often only show up in one of those situations. Text contrast is checked by measurement, and every page is also used with a keyboard alone, by a person.
What that means in practice
- Every control can be reached and used from the keyboard, and whatever you are focused on shows a visible ring.
- The pop-up and the menu move focus in when they open, keep it inside while they are open, close on Escape, and hand focus back to whatever opened them.
- Text meets the AA contrast thresholds against the color actually painted behind it, and no state is signaled by color alone.
- Every control you can tap is at least 24 by 24 pixels, which is what WCAG 2.2 Level AA asks for, and the buttons, menu items and links in the header, the pop-up and the footer are 44 by 44.
- Every form field has a real, visible label, and errors are written out in words next to the field that has the problem.
- Headings run in order, every page has real landmarks, and a skip link is the first thing you reach.
- Text zooms to 200 per cent without anything being lost, and no page scrolls sideways at any width.
- Anything that moves on its own stops when you hover it or put keyboard focus inside it, and stops entirely when your system asks for reduced motion. The moving band of reviews then becomes an ordinary scroller you can reach with the keyboard, and every card on it is also listed, standing still, on the case studies page.
Known limitations
Enrollment tools we do not control. When you choose to apply, you leave this site for a carrier’s or the marketplace’s own website. Those are outside our control and we cannot promise they meet this standard. If one of them blocks you, call us and a licensed agent will complete the application with you over the phone.
Quoted material. Customer reviews are reproduced word for word, including their own spelling and punctuation. We do not tidy them, because changing what somebody said would misrepresent them.
Tell us when something does not work
If any part of this site gets in your way, tell us. Please say which page you were on and what happened, and we will come back to you within two business days. In the meantime a licensed agent will do the whole thing with you over the phone, at no cost and with no obligation.
